MARK ROBERTS, a 20 year old plasterer representing Walsall has won the Mr Gay UK 2004 competition, which was shown live on LIVINGtv last night.
The event took place at G-A-Y in London was hosted by Brian Dowling and Nadia, who also performed her new single A Little Bit of Action. The winner was decided by the public, who voted by phone and text message.
Mark was one of twenty finalists who had made it through the competition to appear at the final in London. The contestants first appeared on stage in formal wear for the Suited & Booted round, which saw the public vote off ten of the guys. The remaining ten then appeared in wild and wicked costumes for the Fantasy round, which saw builders, rugby players and even a character from Star Wars take to the stage.
The contestants then made a third appearance, this time in their underwear, for a grilling from cheeky host Brian Dowling. Meanwhile, Nadia was on the celebrity balcony, gauging the opinion from the celebrity onlookers.
Mark was a clear favourite from the start with Michelle, Jessica andKelli from Liberty X and he also had a fan in Jenny Frost from Atomic Kitten. Richard Wilson's vote was with Mr Glasgow, whilst Peyton from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy seemed to take a shine to Mr Bradford.
The public obviously shared the opinion of the girls from Liberty X as Mark was announced the winner of the title.

He also took away a celebrity style holiday to New York and £2000 cash courtesy of QueerQuarter.com, plus the use of a Vauxhall VX220 sports car and a monthly column in Bent magazine.
In second place was 25 year old Laurence Graham from Belfast who won a holiday to Gran Canaria courtesy of Man Around and 21 year old Tim Rickitts from Plymouth came in third place and also won a holiday courtesy of Man Around.
Mark will now begin his duties as Mr Gay UK and we wish his luck and success for the year to come.
